A remake of El Agente Topo (2020)
Charles, a retiree, gets a new lease on life when he answers an ad for a private investigator and becomes a spy in an undercover investigation at a nursing home. Based on the Chilean documentary “El Agente Topo”.
Before you know it, you find yourself so invested that you have to know who the culprit is!
Being honest, I admit that at first I wasn’t sure if the show was something I would be remotely interested in, but somehow it managed to pull me in. All of the characters are extremely easy to love and so relatable to a person in your life.
My favorite quote from the show is “Every great thing in your life, looking back, seems like a miracle” Very poetic because it resonates within all of us
It’s also a gentle reminder that we’re all here trying to do the same thing, live and enjoy life, so we might as well do our best to get along and most importantly, be kind to each other. I also admit it was a little strange seeing Ted Danson in that role, especially when you’re used to seeing him as the Cheers character “Sam,” but right from the start “Charles” tugs at your heartstrings without leaving any sad memories of “Sam.” A bittersweet but tender reminder that Father Time doesn’t play favorites.
It’s a nice change of pace, and it doesn’t leave you feeling guilty about enjoying another “crime” show
I hope you watch it and that you recognize and empathize with the daily challenges that some in our society, in our lives, face on a daily basis.
