Four children make a mysterious discovery on their home planet that leads to them becoming lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy. Jude Law in the “Skeleton Crew” and more stars from a galaxy far, far away. The holographic circus that entertains Neal’s little siblings is the same one that entertains Chewbacca’s family in the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special (1978) in AniMat’s Crazy Cartoon Cast: Silly Old Deadly Bear (2022). Knowing there will be a lot of hate directed at this show due to the rise and fall of the last Star Wars film, I’m happy to say there’s an uptick. So far… The first two episodes don’t break any new ground nor are they very original, but that’s not a problem as everything is handled well. The cast and their acting are great, the costume/set design is probably the best we’ve seen since Andor, the script, especially the hilarious banter between the kids, was good. Again, nothing new, but intriguing nonetheless, and I look forward to watching more. Gives me strong Treasure Planet vibes. As someone who didn’t enjoy the latest Star Wars, I was surprised by Skeleton Crew. I hope anyone who is even slightly intrigued or even annoyed by recent shows will give it a try. Don’t let the “for kids” talk turn you off. Star Wars is made for everyone, and that goes for this one too.
